A new café room extension at Palmers Garden Centre in Leicester, waterproofed with a fully bonded Icopal Monoplan PVC single ply roof, around 500 m², with liquid detailing tying it into the existing sheeted roof. Completed with the garden centre open and trading throughout.

The challenge
Palmers Garden Centre needed the roof to a smart new café room extension waterproofed to a high standard, with glazed roof lanterns and a clean tie-in to the existing profiled-sheet roof alongside. The centre stayed open and trading throughout, so the work had to be carried out safely and tidily around customers and staff.
Our solution
We installed a fully bonded Icopal Monoplan PVC single ply membrane across the extension roof, around 500 m², dressed neatly around the roof lanterns and upstands. Where the new roof meets the existing sheeted roof, we used a liquid waterproofing system to form a seamless, watertight detail into the profiled cladding.
The outcome
A clean, modern, fully watertight roof over the new café space, with the lanterns bringing in plenty of natural light, completed without disrupting the garden centre’s trading.
